In its 63-year history, SAPC has been blessed with a diverse and inclusive congregation of people and with leadership from ten installed pastors, three associate pastors, and two parish associates. We are currently led by Rev. Jason Hammersley, who joined our congregation in September of 2019. We were founded in 1955 by the First Presbyterian Church in Aiken, to minister to the great growth in the South Side of the city due to the Savannah River Site being created. We almost immediately became an independent church, but we still love the First Presbyterian Church like the parent they were.
Our goal as a congregation is to not only be present for our current members, but also to actively reach out to those around us in the community. We envision a church that ministers to the needs of both members and neighbors in an inviting and connecting fashion. Our ministries and small groups are open to all, not just members of the church, and we actively work to promote our services within the whole community.
We also seek to be welcoming to all of those engaged in faith. We do not discriminate based on race or ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, or lifestyle, and welcome all those interested in learning about and worshiping Christ.
It is our mission to build, grow, and support a community that is strong in its faith in Jesus Christ, is engaged in local ministry and volunteer in order to help those in need, and is diverse in its demographics and perspective in order to reflect a unique and diverse community in Aiken, SC.

Supporting Our Vision
Friendship Baptist Church Partnership
Our church and Friendship African Baptist Church began a partnership in Christ that has grown and developed over the years.
We worship together twice a year (spring & fall), lifting our voices high in a spirit of praise and reconciliation. Our partnership also includes joint outreach efforts in the local area. |
SAPK School
SAPC is home to the South Aiken Presbyterian Kindergarten (SAPK), which provides high-quality and God-centered education to children from infancy through age 6.
We believe that learning and faith should be fostered early in children's lives, and that strong teachers and mentors are a significant requirement in a healthy and happy childhood. |
Secret Santa Outreach
Established in 1987, SAPC pioneered a program to bring joy to children and families in need in the local community. Local sponsors are paired with children in need to provide gifts from their wish list for the holiday season.
SAPC continues to serve as its managing organization. Since its inception, Secret Santa has served over 25,000 children in Aiken County. |
