Nursery and 2k Classrooms
While there is no set curriculum for our nursery students, we still highly value setting regular routines and building a foundation for success as they grow. Children will learn sharing, connection, and routine in order to be prepared for the classroom setting in SAPK and beyond. Teachers also help foster the fine motor skills necessary to be successful in higher curriculums, such as hand writing.
3K Classrooms
Learning Without Tears is an award-winning curriculum available for Pre-K through 5th grade. When implemented in our 3K classroom, letters are taught in a developmentally appropriate order rather than alphabetical to help children master skills. Capital letters are taught first in small groups of similar formation. Children master the easier letter groups, and then move to the more difficult letters groups. A multi-sensory approach helps children develop their writing skills through explicit, multi-sensory, play based instruction. Children move, touch, feel, and manipulate real objects as they learn the habits and skills essential for writing. Teachers use Music, Letter Stories, Tracing, Air Writing, and Mystery Letter Games to teach letter formation and placement on lines.
3K Plus
We know that there are huge milestones in growth and cognition for children aged 3 and 4. A child that just turned 3 will learn very differently and have different physical growth than a child that is nearing 4.
Because of this, we don't limit our students to just one class in 3K. Instead, we split students into "3K" and "3K Plus," according to their ages, in order to offer the best approach and learning environment based on each child's ability.

4K Classrooms
Curriculum -
In our 4K classrooms, we implement a variety of interactive and holistic activities developed by experienced educator Annie Moffatt. Letters are taught across 7 units, with each unit including 3-4 letters. They are taught over the course of several days, with regular opportunities for review and individual assessment. Students can then be assigned groups for targeted centers based on their understanding - but these groups are not solidified! They often change several times throughout the year, as each student's needs change and grow with them.
4K Plus
Just as there are huge milestones in growth for a 3 year old, there are similar large changes in a 4 year old child. The same learning approaches may not work for young 4 year olds and older 4 year olds.
Because of this, we also offer "4K" and "4K Plus" as we do for 3K, in order to offer the best approach and learning environment based on each child's ability.

5K Kindergarten Classrooms
Curriculum -
Once students reach our 5K Kindergarten classroom, they are introduced to the curriculum developed by Jan Richardson. Ms. Richardson is a highly decorated reading specialist with experience in the kindergarten classroom as well as beyond. Her focus on guided reading helps to support all students as they grow more independent in their literacy, and encourages all students to not just be great readers, but to be eager readers!
