My wife and I have been members at SAPC for around 3 years. I like to volunteer my time at church in a variety of ways, whether through choir or other ministries available. I'm looking forward to continuing our connection with the church.

I'm 25 years old, and have lived in Aiken, SC for three years. My husband, Alex, and I have been members for about as long, since 2019. I currently teach high school English and love spending time in the garden. I've always enjoyed being a part of choir, whether at school or at church, and I love being able to praise God through music!

I’m 35 years old, and have lived in parts of NC and SC my whole life. I’ve lived in Aiken with my husband going on 13 years now. I have a 5-year-old son (Caleb) and 3-year-old daughter (Autumn) that have been attending SAPK since they were babies, and we have been attending SAPC since Mar 2020. I have always loved music and singing and have been taking voice lessons since May 2021. I have also been learning to play the ukulele since Oct 2020. I am a stay-at-home-mom, currently in the process of learning how to read music and learn music theory in hopes of becoming a better singer and musician. I decided to join the SAPC Choir after much encouragement from members of the church, friends, and family, and it is such a joy to be able to praise God with my love of music.

I moved across the river from Augusta to Aiken in 2010 to marry my sweetheart, Reilly Hammond. Reilly and I have been members of SAPC since 2017 and I joined the choir in 2018. Due to Reilly being on the transplant list we stopped attending church in 2020 because of Covid. I am exciting about rejoining the congregation and the choir again! I have always loved music but have no talent. Regardless, everyone can smile and make a joyful noise!

Tom Hollowell
I was born and raised in rural NE North Carolina. My wife is Eleanor, and we met while both were attending college in Raleigh, NC. I was at NC State and she was at Meredith College. We both graduated in 1956 and married in June of 1956. I have never studied music, and I don’t know a low F on the bass clef from a high E on the treble clef while looking at the music. I love attempting to sing, and have sung in various high school, college, and church choirs for the past 75 t0 80 years. I worked for a company (now named FM Global) for 40 years, and I retired in 1996 after having lived and worked in nine different states. We have lived in Aiken for the past 25 years. Eleanor does not sing.

I have been a member of the SAPC choir for almost 20 years! I have been singing in choirs even before high school and it is a wonderful part of my life. Phillip is a great director…he and Scott are gifted musicians and make practice so much fun. My husband, David, and I have lived in many places and Aiken is our favorite. We have 4 grown children and we are blessed that we see them often. Two of them live right here in Aiken. One of my favorite things to do is to host a Christmas party for the choir after the Cantata..it is so much fun to be able to relax together.

Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, I moved to Aiken in 1978 to work for DuPont at SRS. I have been active in various church choirs since that time. I have also sung with several groups in the Aiken area, including the Aiken Choral Society, the Augusta Opera Chorus, the Aiken Singers, and South Boundary. After retiring from SRS, I have been studying music composition, with works performed by USC Aiken staff, members of the Aiken Composer's Guild, and the Aiken Civic Orchestra.

My wife Karen and our two daughters had lived in Evans, GA from 1991 to 2006 and then followed my job to Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2019 Karen and I moved back to Aiken for my job again, leaving our daughters in Tennessee at their careers with Oak Ridge National Lab and a hospital in Chattanooga. I joined SAPC in 2020–it has been such a blessing to be in this church, including through the pandemic. I first started singing in the church choir in Tennessee and feel very lucky to be part of this choir.

Marilyn Hofstetter
I was born and raised in Chicago. After High School I attended Augustana College getting a Bachelor ‘s degree in Biology and Chemistry. After college I worked in a lab at the U of Minnesota and took Bio courses toward my MS degree. I followed Ken to Purdue and received my degree in Biology there. We married there in 1965. The rest is pretty much what Ken wrote about travels, raising a family and singing in many church choirs and community choruses. We have lived in Aiken off and on since 1975. We love to go cruising, especially to Hawaii and Alaska.

I was born in rural Illinois, went to school at Augustana College (a great Lutheran Fine Arts school) and went on to get a PhD in Nuclear Chemistry at Purdue. I married my wife Marilyn while in graduate school and taught at Texas A&M University and at the University of Kentucky. I began singing in church choirs as a child and have sung in high school and college choirs. After marriage, we continued to sing in local and community choruses during my academic career. I left academia and found time to raise two wonderful kids, directed several church choirs, acted in local community theater productions, and presently sing with the Aiken Singers and the South Boundary Singers. Spreading the joy of singing to the community and to praise God is our mantra.
