Purpose of Stewardship Committee

  • To coordinate and lead the Stewardship Campaign, which encourages members and friends of South Aiken Presbyterian to pledge towards the annual budget and also offer their gifts of time and talents to the work of this church.
  • To provide committee chairs on the Session and Diaconate with a list of members and friends of South Aiken Presbyterian who are willing to work on their committees
  • To regularly remind members of the church that stewardship is not just for the season of stewardship in September-October, but an on-going commitment to the Lord’s work through our church.

Activities of the Stewardship Committee during 2009

  • Stewardship kick-off luncheon: on September 14, 2009, the Stewardship Committee held its second annual campaign kick-off luncheon for the 2009 Stewardship Season. All members and friends of South Aiken Presbyterian were invited, with reminders placed in the August and Septembers AIMS newsletters, as well as reminders in the bulletin leading up to September 14. The purpose of the luncheon was, as in 2008, to gather members and friends together in fellowship and to celebrate the beginning of the Stewardship season, a time for members to begin prayerfully considering what pledges, time, and talents they would contribute to the church in 2010.
  • Revision of 2010 Time, Talent, and Pledge documents.
  • Church-wide publication of a stewardship devotional booklet, distributed beginning September 14, 2009.
  • Creation and distribution of a children’s time, talent, and pledge sheet.
  • Introduction of an officers’ pledging service on September 27, 2009.
  • Monthly stewardship articles in AIMS.
  • Minutes for Stewardship from the pulpit during Stewardship season.

Time and Talent Database

In December 2009, for the second year, the information from the Time and Talent Cards for 2010 is being entered into an online computerized database, making it easier to track which members wish to serve on particular committees. This database can be updated throughout 2010 as new members join the church. Information in the database continues to be searchable and sortable. The information can also be exported to Excel and other formats as needed. It is always available online in a password-protected environment. This database contains no financial information, as this is known only by the financial manager of SAPC, Tracie Bryant.

Financial Information

In 2009, 156 pledges were turned in, with pledges for 2010 totaling $457,693. This was an increase of $38,105 from the previous year when 148 pledge cards were turned in with pledges totaling $419, 588. The Stewardship Committee is profoundly thankful to the congregation for their commitment to the life and work of this church, which for 2010 represents the highest numbers of dollars and pledges ever turned in to SAPC since records have been kept.
