These were taken at a handbell cleaning party held at the home of Greg and Kay Teese.  Handbells have no protective lacquer as that would hinder the beautiful bell tone so they must literally be handled with gloves to limit deterioration of the alloys by fingerprints, saliva, pollution, etc.

 

We wipe them off every week after each rehearsal, but the
semi-annual cleaning event is necessary to deep clean the bells with a special polish.  The photos represent the importance of caring for a valuable SAPC investment. The replacement cost of our bells would be $7,000 in today's dollars.   Click on each to see it's full size version.
